Ronald H. Crowley, age 77, of Alma passed away Monday, January 7th at the Bacon County Hospital after a short illness. He was a native of Bacon County and son of the late Joseph Asa Crowley and Effie Mae Bland Crowley. Ronald was a member of Douglas Chapel Baptist Church and was a commercial truck driver for several years.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ruth Shannon Crowley, one son, Ronald (Ronnie) Asa Crowley (Norma) of Alma, three daughters, Ruth Ellen Deen (Bunny) of Mershon, Sharon Deen and Gloria Beth Thompson (Mike) of Alma, one brother, Mitchell A. Crowley (Virginia) of Marietta, Ga., one sister, Rhea Jo Lightner (Bob) of Cocoa Beach, FL., 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 11th at 11:00 AM at Douglas Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Chancey and Mike Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Douglas Chapel Cemetery. The body will be carried to the church at 10:00 AM to lie in state. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday evening between 6 and 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Joe, John and Bobby Crowley, Benny Ralph Crews, Jamie Thompson, Joseph and Leslie Deen. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
