Roy Edgar King, age 77, of Mershon passed away on September 13, 2020 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida after a short illness. He was born on August 1, 1943 in Bacon County to William Thomas King and Bernice Hall King.

Mr. King retired from the Bacon County Board of Education as Transportation Director and served as County Commissioner.

He was the Pastor of the Jesus Church in Scuffletown and a farmer for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Kathleen Taylor King, four children, Tony King (Donna), Stephen King, David King of Alma and Tammy Joiner (Larry) of Eatonton, GA., four grandchildren, Michelle Taylor, Will King, Taylor and Tyler Head, four great-grandchildren, Calli, Weslyn, Canaan and Mattan Taylor, three brothers, Johnny King (Diane), Jerry King (Diane) of Alma and Edward King (Jeannette) of Screven, three sisters, Shirley Williams and Betty Griffin of Alma, Linda Holton of Midway.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 16 ^th at 3:00 PM at the Jesus Church Cemetery with Rev. Marcus Taylor and Rev. Jason King officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the cemetery from 2:00 PM until funeral time.
