Roy Lee (Pete) Johnson, age 86, of Alma died Thursday night January 17 ^th , 2019 at the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness.  He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late William Harvey Johnson and Minnie Lee Buckins Johnson and was also preceded in death by a grandson Kiley Neal Boatright, a son-in-law Henry Jake Hyers, five brothers Wesley Johnson, Henry Johnson, Troy Johnson, Hubert Johnson, Hansel Johnson, , five sisters Dealie J. Thomas, Zelia J. Tanner, Irene J. Taylor, Maggie J. Davis and Mary Lee Prestwood. Pete was a long time plumber and electrician. He worked with Alma Housing Authority for several years and attended Alma First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years Verlene Tanner Johnson of Alma, a son Roy Perry Johnson (Dayna) of Alma, two daughters Debbie Hyers and Sherrie Boatright of Alma, a step-brother Bob Crews (Lillie) of Orlando, FL,  eight grandchildren Brian A. Tyre, Stephen W. Tyre, Lee Ann Hyers, Jay Hyers, Colyn A. Johnson, Jessalyn Johnson, Fallyn Johnson, Gracelyn Johnson, six great-grandchildren Trinity Tyre, Janna Hyers, Ryker Hyers, Kolten Hyers, Brynnlie Tyre and Braxton Tyre.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 o"clock from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev.Walter Mingledorff, Rev. Kenny Ellis and Rev. Brian Allen Tyre officiating. Interment will follow in Wolf Pit Cemetery with Rev. Lang Ingram officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday evening between 6 and 8 P M.

Active pallbearers will be Denny Carol Taylor, Leon Taylor, Mitchell Tanner, Kevin Parker, Johnny Johnson, Rev. Danny Turner and Andy Dixon.  Members of the Nazarene Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
