Roy Rigdon, age 69, of Alma died suddenly Monday September 30th, 2013 at the Bacon County Hospital. He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late Silas Rigdon and Maggie Lee Spivey Rigdon and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert and Royce Ridgon, a sister, Nadine Hayes and a sister-in-law, Idell Rigdon. Roy grew up in Wesley Chapel Southern Congregation Methodist Church but had been attending First Community of Alma. He was a farmer and commercial truck driver with Anderson Trucking Company for many years and had served in the U S Army during the Viet Nam War.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Satira Shaddix Rigdon of Alma, two daughters, Tammy Rigdon Anderson (Jerald) and Laura Rigdon Graham (Mark) all of Alma, a brother, Wilbert Rigdon of Nashville, GA, six grandchildren, Tanya Hand, Eric, Anthony, Leigha and Aaron Anderson and Jacob Graham all of Alma, also twelve great-grandchildren survive, two special nieces, Julie Lavender and Jill Baskin of Alma, special nephews, Randy and Andy Hayes of Alma and Neil Rigdon of Hazlehurst.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 o'clock at First Community Church of Alma with Dr. Dale Carver, Rev. T F Yawn officiating. Interment will follow in Wolf Pit Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday evening between 6 and 9 P M. The body will be carried to the church Friday at 10:00 A M to lie in state.

Active pallbearers will be, Neil Rigdon, Mark Graham, Randy Hayes, Tony Hand, Eric, Anthony and Aaron Anderson. Honorary will be, all employees of Jeffery Anderson Trucking Company, Jerry & Jerald Anderson, Clark Arrington, Charlie Maunez, Sidney Brantley, Virgil Taylor, Big Jon Ethridge, Mayo Mims, Tim Davis, Jack Tanner, Joey Carver, Laverne Taylor, Benny Ray Carver, Ernest, Stevie and Randy Altman and all others in attendance.
