Ruby Katherine Hughes, age 87, of Alma passed away Tuesday, January 22nd at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Ga. after an extended illness. She was a native of Bacon County and daughter of the late James Jasper Moore and Matilda Davis Moore. Ruby was preceded in death by her daughter, Marjorie Faye McAfee, two brothers, James & Tom Moore and a sister, Eula Lee Moore Bowen.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Hughes of Alma, a son-in-law, George McAfee of Planes, Ga., two granddaughters, Reba Katherine Tindel of Columbus, Ga., and Marjorie Lee Parker of Americus, Ga. and five great-grandchildren, Nicole, Marlee & Alan Tindel of Columbus, Ga, Tiffany and Whitney Parker of Americus, Ga.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 25th at 3:00 PM at the Alma Church of God with Rev. Travis Peavy officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The body will be carried to the church at 2:00 PM to lie in state. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Nathan & Matthew Grantham, Bill McAfee, Wayne & Justin Peterson and Joshua Ford. Honorary pallbearers will be the Sr. Sunday School Class and Lamar Rozier.
