Ruby Lee (Kearce) Spires, 82, passed away peacefully on June12th surrounded by her loving family.
Ruby was born in McRae, Georgia to late John Jackson Kearce and Willie Pearl Rawlins Kearce on September 29, 1938. Her high school years were spent at Workmore School in Telfair County. Ruby married Charles Lendon Spires, Sr., on June 22, 1955, and they made their first home in Milan, Georgia, then to spend several years living in Dublin, Georgia. In 1964, the family moved to Alma, Georgia which they have loved for 57 years. Upon arriving in Alma, Ruby was employed with Oxford Industries (sewing plant) until she began working for Milliken & Company (textile plant) as a senior lab technician until her retirement in 2003. Ruby possessed an immense spirit with an abundance of personality. She never met a stranger and loved people. She enjoyed a full life involved in church as well as several civic clubs and sports leagues. The joy Ruby experienced in raising her children and the delight she found in caring for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and family members were her greatest blessings.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Lendon Spires, her parents John and Willie Pearl Kearce, and brother, Johnny Kearce. She is survived by her sister, Sara Jo West, of Dublin, Georgia, daughter, Renee Kelly, and her husband, David, of Lagrange, Georgia, son, Len Spires, and his wife, Gina, of Alma, Georgia, and daughter, Sheila Collins, and her husband, Steve of St. Simons, Georgia. Grandchildren; Lee Hawkins, Mark Padgett, Sabrina Turner (Jared/husband), Christopher Collins (Jamey/wife), Blake Spires (Shonda/wife), Jacob Spires (Jaycee/wife), Sarah Roberson (Matt/husband), and Cody Collins. Great Grandchildren; Andrew Hawkins (Sally/wife), Christina Hawkins (Jorge/ husband), Addy Turner, Lucas Padgett, Aubrie Roberson, Avalyn Spires, Charley Anna Turner, Edie Kate Collins, Kensley Kirkland, Londyn Spires, Nate Turner, and River Spires, Great Great Grandchildren; Colt Johnson, Owen Hawkins, and Asher Benitez.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Alma First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Dan Taylor and Rev. Jeff Riley officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 10:00 AM until funeral time.
Pallbearers will be; Christopher Collins / grandson Cody Collins / grandson Andrew Hawkins / great grandson Mark Padgett / grandson Blake Spires / grandson Jacob Spires / grandson.
