Ruth L. Barber, age 89, of Alma passed away on December 30th at Twin Oaks Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was a native of Greensboro, NC. but had lived most of her life in Alma. Ruth was daughter of the late Hugh Gill Leagan and Annie Jones Leagan and was preceded in death by her husband John Henry Barber, a brother, Frank Leagan and four sisters, Shirley Leagan, Margaret Garrett, Dorothy Leagan and Rosie Lee Williams. She was a member of the Alma United Methodist Church for many years.

Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Anne Thompson (Danny), one granddaughter, Lisa Marie Smith, 3 great-grandchildren, Tiffany Barnes, Brittany and Leanna Nettles, 1 great-great grandchild, Jaydence Barnes and a special friend, Grace Douglas all of Alma.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 1st at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Pet Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 PM until funeral time.

Active pallbearers will be; Joe Sears, Larry Barber, Charles Douglas and Andy Hutto. Honorary pallbearers will be; Dr. Harrison Carter, Twin Oaks Nursing Home Staff and all others in attendance..
