Sammy Shores, age 76, of Alma passed away at his residence on June 17, 2019 after a short illness. The son of Marvin Banner Shores and Mary Willie Brewer Shores, he was born August 16, 1942 in Aiken, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by brothers, J.B., Clyde and Russell Shores, sisters Mae Lawrence, Florence Gibson, Norma Spivey and Louise Jones and a great-grandson Gage Booth. He attended Douglas Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years Wilma Williamson Shores, children, Billy Shores (Susan), Kaye Thomas (Bruce) and Anita Lord (Ricky) of Alma; brother Joe Shores (Robin) of North, Carolina; sisters Sarah Scott (Grover) and Christine Wise (Elldee) of South, Carolina; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 20 ^th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Hutcheson officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Randy Douglas, Van Douglas, Jimmy Douglas, Sidney Douglas, Dewayne Thomas and James Miles. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
