Sara Ann Holton, age 88, of Alma passed away at her home early Sunday morning August 31st after an extended illness. She was a native of Easley, S C but had lived in Bacon County since 1945. She was daughter of the late Norman Couch and Addie Odell Couch and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Norman (Buddy) Couch and a sister, Frances McKinney. Sara was a member of the Alma First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Robert Holton of Alma, a son Robert Wayne Holton of Alma, a daughter, Frances Diane Holton Bennett (Chess) of Alma, three grandchildren, Rachel Ellis (Darrell), Risa Arney (Bill), Robert Darrell Bennett all of Alma, four great-grandchildren and a very loved sister-in-law, Catherine Edwards of Spartanburg, S C.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Johnson officiating and eulogy given by Bill Arney. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday at 1:00 P M until funeral time.
Active pallbearers will be, Gerald Douglas, Darrell Ellis, Bill Arney, Rob Bennett, Jimmy McCall and Danny Cauley. Honorary pallbearers will be; The Ruth Sunday School Class, The Joy Sunday School Class and Sarah Cauley.
