Obituary

Stephen Marcus “Mark” Nettles, 51, of Waycross, GA, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, the 12th day of June, 2026.

Born on the 6th day of November, 1974, in Jacksonville, FL, he was the youngest son of Reverend Jack Perry Nettles & Barbara Bohanan Nettles, of Alma, GA. Mark received his formal education in Jacksonville, FL and attended college. He had been a resident of Waycross for the past 27 years and was the Owner/Operator of Nettles’ Car Detailing for the past 23 years. He was known for his attention to detail and providing exceptional customer experience and service. In addition, Mark and his wife currently served as the Campground Host at Laura S.Walker State Park for many years. He attended the Grace Chapel Church in Alma, where his father Pastors. Mark was an accomplished musician and bass player. He had the honor of playing with nationally acclaimed gospel groups and traveled across the nation sharing his extraordinary love for God and unsurpassed talents. Even with his much success, he best enjoyed those intimate moments of family gatherings and playing music with his family. Mark never met a stranger and exhibited a genuine love for others. He saw the bright side of life and his personality attracted countless others. His laughter and smile were contagious and captivated the hearts of those around him. Mark’s greatest hobby was riding the four wheeler with his daughter, Sarah, cruising along South Georgia dirt roads. He valued family time and leading his family in the love and knowledge of Jesus. Every night before bed, he would pray with his wife and children. The light Mark illuminated will never cease to burn and will live on in the hearts of those fortunate to have known him and love him. Rest easy, husband, daddy, son, brother, and friend.

In addition to his parents, Survivors are his wife of 27 years, Glenda Strickland Nettles of the home; two daughters, Marissa (Eric) Clark of Waycross, and Sarah Nettles of the home; a son, Stephen Nettles of the home; a brother, Doug (Amy) Nettles of Alma; grandchildren, Bella and Revan and expecting a third grandchild soon; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and his faithful fur baby and companion, Rambo.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 16th day of June, 2026, in the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home. Pastor Derrell Shedd and Reverend Warnie Nettles will preside. Musical Selections will be rendered by Sandra Morgan, Jerry Nettles, Reverend Warnie Nettles, Joshua Nettles, Jade Nettles, and Christopher Nettles. Honored to serve as Casket Bearers are Joshua A. Nettles, Jonathan Nettles, Joshua A. Nettles, II, Simon Nettles, Jason Seacrist, and Steve Thomas. The Committal and Burial will follow in the Meeks Cemetery, with Reverend Jack Nettles and Joe Cranford presiding. The family is pleased to greet friends from six until eight o’clock in the evening, on Monday, the 15th day of June, at Crosby Funeral Home. While flowers are appreciated, those wishing may make a memorial contribution in Mark’s honor and memory to the family.
