Terry Lynn Kato, age 71, of Douglasville, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. He was born in Alma, Georgia, on October 24, 1954, the son of the late Willie M. Kato and Vera Tomlinson Kato.
Terry was the owner of Life’s Journey Custom Cabinetry and later retired from Southern Oak Woodworking. He proudly supported the Wounded Warrior Project and was a devoted member of Cowan Mill Church.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Georgia Kostoplis Kato; children, Shane Kato (Avery), Cory Kato (Krissi), and Graham Wiseman (Brittany); grandchildren, Brennan Kato, Kameron Kato, Ashton Gilbert, Brantley Kato, Carson Kato, Henley Wiseman, and McKenna Wiseman; great-grandchild, Liam Kato; godson, Jacob Harmon; sister, Suzi White (Mike); along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie M. Kato and Vera Tomlinson Kato; and siblings, Evelyn “Ebbie” Bowman, Lamar “Marcy” Kato, and Willene “Nean” Christopher.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel in Douglasville from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Josh Smith officiating.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, June 1, 2026, during the lying in state in Alma, at Alma Church of God beginning at 12:00 p.m. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Travis Peavy, will follow at 1:00 p.m., with interment afterward at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brennan Kato, Brantley Kato, Carson Kato, Jacob Harmon, Colt Schad, Kenny Avery, Russell Ledbetter, and Terry Hollis (“Husband-N-Law”).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Terry’s honor.
Hightower Family Funeral Home in Douglasville, Ga is in charge of the arrangements.
