Thelma Lott Burkett, age 91, passed away peacefully February 25, 2026, at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Alma after an extended illness. She was born in Atkinson County on July 20,1934, to the late William Roy Lott, Sr. and Alliner Parker Lott. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Kay McLaughlin and eight brothers and sisters.

She spent most of her life as a homemaker, dedicating herself to her family as a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband of 71years, Harold D. Burkett; daughters, Teresa Wade (Shane) of Alma and Judy Herrington (Bryan) of Baxley; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.

A graveside service will be held Monday, March 02, 2026, at Burkett Church Cemetery in West Green at 11 AM with Rev Bryan Herrington and Bro. Jordan McGuire officiating. A visitation will be held in the church from 10 AM until service time.

Active pallbearers include Vance Burkett, Christian Herrington, Daniel Herrington, David Herrington, Bryan Herrington, and Dakota Wade. Honorary pallbearers include the staff at Twin Oaks Nursing Home.
