Thomas Dewayne Whidby, age 60, passed away October 20, 2026, at Bacon County Hospital after a short illness. He was a native of Bacon County, born on March 27, 1966, to Rev. Thomas Rosevelt Whidby and Valdese Rigdon Yawn. He is preceded in death by his father, Rev. Thomas Whidby and his sister, Carol Albritton.

He served in the United States Air Force. He was employed as a quality control technician with East Coast Asphalt for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Rena Whidby; sons Thomas James Whidby of Amherst, OH and Daniel Aubrey Whidby of Alma; daughter, Meghan Daniels of Amherst, OH; his mother, Valdese Yawn (W.C.); brother, Gary Whidby (Jo Ann) of Conyers, GA; sisters, Donna Smith of Baxley and Connie Mercer (Jimmy) of Alma; grandchildren, Jaidin, Benjamin, Henry, Justin, Conner, and Ivan.

Funeral services will be held Friday October 23, 2026, at Wolf Pit Church at 2 PM with Rev. T.F. Yawn officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 1 PM until service time.

Active pallbearers include Mike Lewis, Robbie Johnson, Mark Cribb, Eddie Hall, Victor Smith, and Darren Rigdon. All in attendance will be considered honorary pallbearers.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
