Tommy Medders, age 65, of Alma died at his home Friday September 6st, 2013 after a short illness. He was native of Bacon County, son of the late Charlie Clifton Medders and Mamie Lee Allen Medders and was also preceded in death by six brothers, Frank, Doyle, Vernon, Albert, Buddy and Robert (Bud) Medders, two sisters, Ruth Medders and Glenda (Pete) Medders. Tommy retired from Flash Foods as a truck driver after 17 years of employment.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years Sandra Barber Medders of Alma, six daughters, Teresa Bullard (Chad) of Baxley, Renee Sikes (Tim) of Hazlehurst, Jennifer Bass (Clint) of Baxley, Angela Dean (Alan) of Midway, Rhonda Waldron (Ben) of Bristol and Shawna Bennett (Johathan) of Alma, three sisters, Ruby Taylor, Reba Sweat and Reggie Hutcheson all of Alma, sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 o'clock from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Ledbetter and Rev. Bill Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Crosby Funeral Home to help defray funeral expense. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday evening between 6 and 9 P M.
Active pallbearers will be, Thomas and Shane Lightsey, Travis Rowland, Jerry Barber, James Turner and Tony Lewis. Honorary will be, grandsons, Tyler and Trey Bass, C J Bullard, John Allen Sellers, Southern Hospice, Calvin and Peggy Layport.
