Travis L. Carter, age 84, of Alma passed away suddenly at the Bacon County Hospital on January 10, 2022. Born in Bacon County on September 16, 1937 to Lambert Allen Carter and Leola Autrey Carter. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mindy Spires, brother, Eugene Carter and sister-in-law, Wilma Carter. He was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Carter is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha Thrift Carter of Alma; two sons, Dale Carter (Harriett Taylor) and Tony Carter (Dana) of Alma; four grandchildren, Shane Taylor, Anna Douglas (Robert), Hayle Carter and Laci Jo Carter and four great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Taylor, Shelby Hutto, Lane Boatright and Analyn Boatright.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Edmund Thrift officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday at Shady Grove from 12:00 PM until funeral time.

Active pallbearers will be; Edwin Carter, Johnny Thrift, Jason Thrift, Danny Thrift, Curt Thrift, Timmy Ray King, Robert Douglas, Bruce Bennett, Rusty Swartz and Jody Ponsell. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
