Rev. Troy Turner, age 76, of Alma died Friday January 31st, 2014 at the St. Vincent Medical Center of Jacksonville, FL. He was a native of Coffee County but had lived in Bacon County since 1955, son of the late Archie Turner and Doris Whitley Turner and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Hansel and Travis Turner. Rev. Troy was a heavy equipment operator for many years, a minister for 50 years and was a member and current Pastor of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Euvalda Grayson Turner of Alma, three daughters, Brenda Justice (Joe) of Savannah, Deborah Ann Turner of Alma, Janice Wren (Derrick) of Lyons, a brother, Wayne Turner (Pat) of Douglas, three sisters, Betty Taylor (Bill), Dot Story (Buster), Mary Lois Smith (Carl) all of Douglas and a grandchild, Amanda Gay (Gabriel) of Mr. Vernon, Ga.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 o'clock from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Martin, Rev. John Thomas and Rev. Andy Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Moore's Cemetery in Ware County. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday evening between 6 and 9 P M.
Active pallbearers will be, Chad Toler, Sammy Boatright, Robert and Alan Turner and Don Burnam. Honorary will be, Rev. Billy Floyd, Jimmy Lee, Nick Moore, Justin Meeks, Linton Spell, Jerry Boatright, Ronnie Walton, Larry Turner, Wendell and Wayne Rewis, Dub and Jerry Ray Taylor.
