February 6, 1936 – November 10, 2024
Mrs. Valdese Boatright Peacock, age 88, of Alma entered her eternal rest peacefully on Sunday morning, November 10, 2024, at Twin Oaks Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Clinton Eugene Peacock, her parents, Grady and Vianner Boatright, two brothers Violas and Voughna "Barney" Boatright, two sisters Valarie Thompson and Verlie Walsh.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Ronnie) Chaney of Marianna, Arkansas, foster son Phil Harper of Cleveland, Tennessee. Three sisters, Velma Stewart of Alma, Georgia, Virue Stewart and Vernice Jordan of Dixie Union, Georgia. Two grandchildren, Amanda Chaney Vowan, of Marianna, Arkansas and James (Emily) Chaney of Alma, Georgia along with 9 great-grandchildren.
Valdese retired from Hazlehurst Mills, Supervision in Burlington Dept for an extended time of service. She was a faithful charter member of Southside Church of God in Alma, Georgia.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 12th from 6 to 9 PM at Crosby Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 13th at 2:00 PM at Southside Church of God with Rev. David Deen, Rev. Thomas Colter, Rev. R. M. Warren and Rev. David Davis. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be: Joe Stewart, Jeffery Stewart, Chris Stewart, James Jordan, Dewayne Walsh, Joey Walsh, Stevie Thompson and Bill Boatright. Honorary pallbearers will be: Mike & Karen Wheeler, Joe & Jeannie Boatright, Dr. Harrison Carter, Dustin & Amanda Kinlaw, Adult Sunday School Class (Southside Church of God), Donnie Ray & Angel Anderson, Bill Johnson, Jerry & Glenda Taylor, James Taylor, Quitman Dyal and Sammy & Connie Walton.
Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
