Valera Adams, age 86, of Alma died at the Bacon County Hospital Saturday September 15th, 2012 after a short illness. She was a native of Bacon County, daughter of the late Claudie Taylor and Minnie O'Quinn Taylor and was also preceded in death by a half sister, Hattie Mae Purvis. Valera was a member of the Alma Tenth Street Church of God.
Survivors include a brother, Carl Taylor, a sister, Wilma Harrell, a niece, Brenda Anderson and a nephew Jerry Harrell all of Alma.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Alma Tenth Street Church of God with Rev. Travis Peavy and Rev. Hulett Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The body will be carried to the church at 1:00 P M Monday to lie in state. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home between 6 and 9 P M Sunday evening.
Active pallbearers will be, Bradley Taylor, Danny Carter, David Moore, Wayne Williams, Thad Gray and Tom Holton. Staff and residents of Twin Oaks Nursing Home and all others in attendance will be considered as honorary pallbearers.
