Valerie Boatright Thompson, age 86, of Nicholls died early Saturday October 6, 2012 at the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. She was a native of Coffee County, daughter of the late Grady Boatright and Vianner Taylor Boatright and was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Thompson, a sister, Verlie B. Walsh, two brothers, Violas and Vaughna Boatright. Valerie was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church of Nicholls.

Survivors include two sons, Roger Thompson and wife Judy and Michael Thompson all of Nicholls, four sisters, Valdese B. Peacock of Alma, Velma B. Stewart of Alma, Virue B. Stewart and husband Johnny of Dixie Union and Vernice B. Jordan of Dixie Union, 1 grandson, Steve Thompson of Nicholls, 1 great-grandson, Allen Thompson of Nicholls. Also several nieces and nephews survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 o'clock at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Nicholls with Rev. George O'Berry and Rev. Tommy James officiating. Interment will follow in Hall Cemetery next to the church. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday evening between 6 and 9 P M. The body will be carried to the church Monday at 10:00 A M to lie in state one hour.

Active pallbearers will be, John Stewart, Joe Stewart, Jeffrey Stewart, James Jordan and Randy Walsh. Honorary will be, Health Dept. Home Care, Pat Lott, Dr. Harrison Carter, Michael and Jan Thomas.
