Obituary

Velma C. McKenzie, age 60, of Alma passed away suddenly Thursday, March 19th in an automobile accident. She was a native of Appling County but had lived most of her life in Bacon County. Velma was daughter of the late George Crosby and Thelma Martin Crosby and preceded in death by her father-in- law, Bill McKenzie, Sr., a sister, Dorene Nash and two brothers, Walter and Otto Crosby. She was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Bill McKenzie, Jr., a son, Cam McKenzie and wife Brandi, three grandchildren, Brooke, Payton and Jax McKenzie all of Alma, five brothers, George and Steve Crosby of Baxley, Jackson Crosby of Plattsmouth, NE., Leon Crosby of New Madrid, MO. and Barry Crosby of Vidalia, Ga., six sisters, Ann Woodcock of Statesboro, Ga., Bessie Sykes of IL., Vinne Boatright of Baxley, Thelma Meeks of Alma, Lee Calanni of Ohio and Janelle Steed of Philadelphia, TN.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 21st from 6 to 9 PM at Crosby Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 22nd at 2:00 PM at Big Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Kirkland and Rev. Edmund Thrift officiating.
