Verna Taylor Perry, age 74, of Alma passed away at Memorial Health in Savannah after an extended illness. She was a native of Bacon County, daughter of the late Elkie Taylor and Lois Adele Taylor and preceded in death by a sister, Valerie Toler.
Verna retired form the Bacon County Health Department and was a member of Alma First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Perry of Alma, two sons, Randy Johnson (Janet) of Alma and Sandy Taylor (Linda) of Nassau County, two-step children, Steven and Robin Perry of Leesburg, AL., brother-in-law, Thomas Toler, one nephew, Larry Toler (Rachel) of Alma; also 2 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 29th at 2:00 PM at the Alma First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Mark Barth and Rev. Lang Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The body will be carried to the church at 1:00 PM to lie in state. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Peter Duran, Larry, Lee and Casey Toler, Eugene Perry, Marion Carter and Larry Harris. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
