Vernie Alice Lee Elliott, age 93, of Dixie Union died Saturday morning November 16th, 2013 at her home. She was a native of Bacon County but had lived in Dixie Union since 1983. She was daughter of the late Robert E. Lee and Lola Lee Lee and was also preceded in death by her husband, George Anderson Elliott, 7 brothers, Lyman, James, Reppard, Hubert, Raymond E., William Peyton (Buddy) and Tracy Lee, 4 sisters, Tina Lee, Annie Lee Taylor, Ruth Lee Rideout and Ruby Lee Howard. Vernie was a member of Old Pine Grove Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, George Gary Elliott (Bernie) of San Fernando Valley, CA, Richard Allen Elliott (Donna) of Waycross, two daughters, Lola Elaine Shireman of Alma, Rose Marie Elliott of Waycross, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at Old Pine Grove Methodist Church with Rev. Lowell Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be carried to the church at 2:00 P M to lie in state. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday evening between 6 and 9 P M.

Active pallbearers will be, Landon and Barth Carter, Ben Bennett, Chris McElroy, David Rideout and Larry McCarthy. Honorary will be, Broughton Lee, Phillip Lee and in honorary memory; nephews Roger Lee and Gordon Taylor.
