Obituary

Virgil Franklin Wade, age 79 of Alma passed away suddenly at the Bacon County Hospital on Tuesday, September 11, 2018.  He was born in Alma, Georgia on June 27, 1939 to Archie "Ball" Peyton Wade and Retta Carter Wade; besides his parents' two brothers, Jerry Wade and Aubrey Wade and a great grandson, Daniel Merritt preceded him in death. He was a member of the Local 865 Carpenters Union in Brunswick, Georgia.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Frances Rigby Wade of Alma, three children, Marshall Wade (Nina), Marty Wade (Pamela) of Alma and Mary Winn (Jasper) of Baxley, a brother, Ed Wade of Waycross, two sisters, Erma Carter and Nell Douglas of Alma, 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 14 th at 11:00 AM at Corinth Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Parnell Aldridge and Rev. Bobby Graham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until funeral time.

Active pallbearers will be; Stan Wade, Eric and David Booth, Christopher Martin, Mage Eason and Levi Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be; Dr. Harrison Carter, Bruce Carter, Wade Carter, Eddie Wade, Bobby Graham, David Moore, Edward White, Neil White and Carl Rigby and all others in attendance.

Crosby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
