Virginia Potts Hatten, age 85, passed away July 29, 2026, at Harborview Nursing Home surrounded by family. She was born in Bartow County, GA, May 30, 1941, to the late James Potts and Essie Dover Potts. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Jackson Hatten; stepson, Benny Hatten; son-in-law, Tony Dupree; brothers, John and James “Bud” Potts; sisters, Evelyn Culver, Sybil Croy, and Sissy Blumenfield.

She retired from the Dietary Department at Bacon County Hospital after many years of dedicated service. She attended New Lacy Church of God for many years.

She is survived by her sons, James Hatten (Paula) of Alma and Scott Hatten (Janet) of Jesup; daughter, Debbie Dupree of Calhoun, GA; grandchildren, Jodi Mann (Greg), Nicole Smith (Matt), Justin Hatten (Amelia), Traci Flippen (Matt), Katie Hires (Joseph), Rachel Davis (Koby); great-grandchildren, Judah Smith, Ava Smith, Adeline Hires, Porter Mann, Jett Hatten, Emory Mann, Jaxx Hires, Tatum Davis, and Lawson Flippen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday August 01, 2026, at New Lacy Church of God at 11 AM with Rev. Scott Hatten and Greg Leggett officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 10 AM until service time.

Active pallbearers include Justin Hatten, Matt Smith, Judah Smith, Matt Flippen, Joseph Hires, Koby Davis, and Gregg Mann. Honorary pallbearers include the Harborview Nursing Home staff.
