Vondell Odessa Carter, age 92, of Alma passed away peacefully at her daughters' home in Uvalda, Georgia on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.  She was born in Glennville, Georgia on September 21, 1926 to the late Lester H. Knight and Clifford Smith Knight. Her husband of 57 years Rev. Julian Carter, Jr., two brothers, Harold and Jim Knight and a sister, Iris Smith preceded her in death. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday school for over 40 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Pam Solomon and husband Teddy of Alma, Deborah Calhoun of Uvalda, GA. and Dawn Meeks of Douglas, GA., 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 22 ^nd at 12:00 PM at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Doug Carter and Rev Pet Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends at the church Friday from 11:00 AM until funeral time.

Active pallbearers will be; Shane & Alec Bowen, Ron Deen, Jarrod Deen, Casey and Scotty Altman. Honorary pallbearers will be; First Church of the Nazarene Senior Adult Ladies Sunday school class.
