W.M. "Bill" Martin, age 80 of Alma passed away Tuesday, November 11th at his residence after a short illness. He was a native of Appling County but had lived most of his life in Bacon County. Bill was son of the late Herman Martin and Novella Spivey Martin and preceded in death by two sons, Ferrell and Danny Martin, a brother, Eldridge Martin and two sisters, Colleen Corson and Vonice Miles. He attended Southside Church of God.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Murle Lightsey Martin of Alma, two sons, Randy Martin (Sonja) of Alma and Greg Martin (Susan) of Orange Park, FL., one daughter, Rhonda Gail Martin Kaeck (Steve) of Alma, two sisters, JoAnn Blanton of Jesup, Ga. and Lila Pearl Tillman of Baxley, four grandchildren, Blake Martin (Jennifer), Berry Martin (Nicole), Sky Kaeck and Cheyenne Taylor and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 14th at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Carver, Rev. Robert Varnadore and Rev. Travis Peavy officiating. Interment will follow in Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Ron Williams, Roy Denny Lee, Ricky Boatright, Henry Lee, George Johnson and Dewayne Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be active and retired State Troopers also Jimmy McCall, Larry Williams, Ruby White, Gary Burch, Clay Lee, Jimmy & Johnny Nobles, Roger Boatright, Marvin Deen, Hobert Taylor, Lonnie Mercer, Van Steedley, Sr. & Van Steedley, Jr. and Ronnie Boatright.
