Wade Harris, Sr. age 80 of Alma passed away Wednesday, December 21st at the Specialty Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida after a short illness. He was born on May 22, 1936 in White Springs, Florida and moved to Alma in 1960. Wade was son of the late Leonard Sylvester Harris and Rosa Inez Hunter Harris and preceded in death by his wife Janice Katherine Crowe Harris. He was a member of Alma Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in the US Army.
Survivors include three children, Angus Wade Harris, Jr. of Lake City, FL., Kevin Wade Harris of North Carolina and Kari Jayne Harris of Alma, six stepchildren, Timmy Waters and Don Waters of Jacksonville, FL., Scott Thompson of Alma, Sandra Rouse (Lester) of Alma, Tammy Waters of Atlanta and Kimberly Harrison (Patrick) of Hinesville, GA., one brother, Leonard Ivey Harris of White Spring, FL.; also 5 grandchildren, 1 step-grandson and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 28th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with President Rick McDowell, Elder Ed Worthington and Elder Robert Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Jonathan McDowell, Brian Porter, Brent Lassiter, Chase Flowers, Elder Micah McPhearson and Elder Casey Irons. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
