Obituary

Walter Monroe Lee, age 88, of Alma passed away Wednesday, June 3rd at the Appling County Nursing Home after a short illness. He was a native of Bacon County and son of the late Thomas Madison Lee and Georgia Hyers Lee. Monroe was preceded in death by several brother and sisters. He was a member of First Baptist Church and served in the US Army during WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Sally Bennett Lee of Alma, a son, Walter Newsome Lee (Pamela) Cummings, Ga., one daughter, Diane Jones (Danny) of Jacksonville, FL., one sister, Ocie Moore of Blackshear, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 5th at 3:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Miles and eulogy given by Ricky Taylor. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday 6 to 8 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Jerry Boatright, Sammy Boatright, Evans Overstreet, Jr. Darrell Morris, Johnny Morris and Lanny Carter. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
