Walter
Peacock
Jan 16, 1944 — Jul 21, 2026
Walter Malcolm Peacock, age 82, passed away July 21, 2026, at Twin Oaks Convalescent Center after a brief illness. A native of Bacon County, he was born on January 16, 1944, to the late Walter Emerson Peacock and Jean McNeil Peacock. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James Peacock.
Walter gained many of his mechanic skills by serving in the motor pool of the United States Army while stationed in Germany. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Walter began a career with Milliken and Company that spanned 43 years at the time of his retirement.
Walter was a wealth of knowledge and information that he willingly shared with anyone that needed his help. Walter also possessed a genuine love of gardening and fruit production. He was always glad to share his harvest with friends and neighbors. For many years, Walter took pride in engineering and helping to bring to life the ideas of the members of the Taylor Town Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Christmas floats. As one member of the group stated: “There was never an idea presented that Walter could not bring to life.”
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Barbara Curl Peacock; sons Jeffery Peacock (Sharon) and Blake Peacock (Manda); five grandchildren Tristan Tallent (Michael), Jada Peacock, Jeffery Peacock, Jr. (Hannah), Ethan Vaughn and Karly Espinoza (Hector); four great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandra Taylor, Carol Carter and Wanda Williams, and Lisa Brown (Vern); several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Saturday July 25, 2026, at Campground Methodist Church, where Walter was a faithful member. Visitation will be at the church starting at 10 a.m. until service time. Reverend Andy Capshaw will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Campground Church Cemetery. The church is located at 147 Campground Church Rd Nicholls, Ga.
The family kindly request that everyone wear comfortable clothing due to the expected heat. As Walter would have said, be cool and be comfortable.
One friend remembered Walter as “The best neighbor anyone could have!”
Walter surely will be missed.
