Obituary

Wana Lee Carnes, age 87, of Mershon died early Tuesday morning January 12, 2016 at her home after an extended illness. She was a native of Pierce County, daughter of the late Randall Linton Bennett and Mary Hyers Bennett and was also preceded in death by her husband George Samuel (Sam) Carnes, Sr., a son George Samuel Carnes, Jr. three brothers Elderd Bennett, A J (Dobie) Bennett, Edsel Bennett and a sister Madese Davis.

Survivors include a son Roy Gene Carnes (Rebecca) of Jacksonville, FL, a daughter Patricia Ann Marnik (Martin) of Atlanta, two brothers Edward Bennett of Blackshear and Phil Bennett of Mershon, a sister Rebecca Wagner of Mershon, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 o'clock from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Roy King officiating. Interment will follow in Mershon Cemetery in Pierce County. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 P M until funeral time at 2:00 PM.

Active pallbearers will be;Active pallbearers will be Nick Coker, Joel, Chris and Mack Carnes, Jeral and Orin Bennett. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
