Wannell M. Herrington, age 81, of Baxley passed away Monday, January 7th at Community Hospice after a short illness. She was a native of Coffee County but had lived in Bacon County for many years and Appling County for 65 years. Wannell was daughter of the late Marvin Meeks, Sr. and Rena Rigdon Meeks and preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jack Dennis (J.D.) Herrington, three sons, Dennis, Dale and Gary Herrington, two grandchildren, Chris Atkinson & Tony Herrington, four brothers, Marvin Meeks, Jr., James Quinton Meeks, Joffard Meeks and Jerry Dennis Meeks and a sister, Gennell Wildes. She was a member of Miles Chapel Baptist Church in Appling County.

Survivors include one son, Steve Herrington, two daughters, Janet Herrington and Edith Brown of Baxley, one brother, Cotton Meeks of Hinesville, GA., one sister, Carolyn Ivey (Johnny) of Alma, 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 10th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Overstreet officiating. Interment will follow in Miles Chapel Cemetery in Appling County. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening between 6 and 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Donnie, Kim & Alex Herrington, George Fowler, Ricky Cleveland and Rex Hughes. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
