Rev. Jimmy Wayne Hayes, age 65, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on January 21, 2017 at Coffee Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. He was a native of Bacon County but had lived in Douglas since 1985. Wayne was son the late Rev. Jimmy Lee Hayes, Jr. He was retired from the Coffee County Board of Education as a School Teacher, a Pastor for 46 years, a member of Mims Baptist Church and served in the Army Reserves for 6 years.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joann Varnedore Hayes, two sons, Jason Hayes and wife Amanda and Jeremy Hayes and wife Donna, four grandchildren, Kameryn, Katelyn, Kason and Natalie all of Douglas; his mother, Winnie Lou Burkett Hayes and a brother, Wendell Hayes and wife Caryl Jean of Alma.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 25th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Hayes, Dr. James Banks and Rev. Don Harper officiating. Eulogies will be given by Mr. Wayne's granddaughters, Kameryn and Natalie. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 9 PM

Active pallbearers will be; Ronnie Boatright, Demery Meeks, Toby Reeves, Patrick Crews, Horace Crews, Allen Ahl, Michael Davis and Daniel Davis. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
