Wilbert James Hamilton, age 68, of Waycross passed away Tuesday, November 22nd at Hospice Satilla after a short illness. He was a native of Bacon County but had lived in Waycross the past 47 years. Wilbert was the son of the late Wilbert J. (W. J.) Hamilton and Laverne Tuten Hamilton and preceded in death by his twin brother, Dwight Hamilton, Dwayne and Randall Hamilton and a brother-in-law, Ronald Smith. He served in the US Marines during the Vietnam War and was employed with the Waycross Journal Herald after 39 years of employment.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Teresa Purcell Hamilton of Waycross, two sons, Allen Hamilton and partner Lonnie Beasley of Waycross and Randall Hamilton (Brandy) of Blackshear, one daughter Tammy Hamilton and partner Janet Williams of Waycross, sister, Linda Hamilton Smith of Waycross, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 25th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Don Hamilton, Rev. Lamar Christie and Rev. Kit Brinson officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 12:00 PM Friday until funeral time.
The family will be meeting at the home of Linda Smith at 1729 Calvin Rd. Jamestown, GA. 31503.
