Obituary

Wilbur Lamar Streat, age 70 of Nicholls died suddenly Saturday morning July 25th, 2015 at the Coffee Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Coffee County, son of the late Perry Luther (P L) Streat and Evelyn Grace Lee Streat. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Howard Streat, a son Kevin Streat and a brother, Dr. Alvin Perry Streat. Wilbur was a 1962 graduate of Nicholls High School where he was active in most clubs and holds the record for the most points (50) scored in a basketball game, graduated from Dell School of Medical Technology in Ashville, N C with a Lab and X-Ray diploma and moved in 1963 to Waynesboro, GA and worked at Burke County Hospital, moved in 1964 to Vidalia and worked at Meadows Memorial Hospital, in 1967 he worked with Dr. Conner and Bedingfield and then entered Brewton Paarker College and graduated in 1969, also joined the Air Force Reserve in 1969 and while stationed at Lackland A F Base in San Antonio, TX he worked in the Wilfred Hall Hospital, moved to Augusta, GA in 1970 and worked at the University Medical Center, helped start the night shift blood bank and later Nuclear Medicine and at this time he entered Augusta College, 1974 moved back to Nicholls, opened an insurance office and worked at the Bacon County Hospital and Streat's Garments, started N & S Enterprise Distribution with it's 3 locations Nicholls, Douglas and Alma, member of Coffee Co. Chamber of Commerce. His passion was collecting antique tractors and cars. Wilbur was a member of Nicholls Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Marshall Streat of Nicholls, 2 step-sons Alvin Hall of Lockport, LA and Scott Mims of Alma, a step daughter Emilie Hall of Nicholls, 3 brothers Jerry Streat (Jessie) of Bickley, Harry Streat (Diane), Van Streat (Carrie) of Nicholls, a sister Sharon Lyon Streat of Nicholls.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 o'clock at Meeks Cemetery with Rev. Joseph Lee officiating and eulogies given by Wilbur's brother Van Streat and by Jon Lott. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday evening between 6 and 9 P M.

Active pallbearers will be, Seab Lastinger, Fred Augello, Michael Carrin, Henry (Honky) Davis, Trampas Adams, Travis, Lee and Chad Streat. Honorary will be the 1962 class of Nicholls High School, employee's of N & S Enterprise, Roger Thompson, Troy Taylor, Wayne Meeks, Fred Anderson, Jon Lott and Danny O'Donald.
