William "Billy" Glenn Newberry, Sr. age 87, of Alma passed away December 15, 2021 at his residence after an extended illness. Born in Brantley County on May 15, 1934 but lived most of his life in Bacon County. He was son of the late William A. Newberry and Etta Mae Courson Newberry. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Buddy Newberry, Johnny Newberry and Roy Newberry, Sr.; two sisters, Rosemary Thompson and Pauline Driggers; and two grandchildren, Shon Whitley and Shanna Sweat.

Mr. Billy was Owner and Operator of Newbery Body and a lifelong member of New Hope Southern Congregational Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Yvonne Britt Newberry; four children, Glenn Newberry (Sherry), Gary Newberry (Sarah), Teresa Reich (Daniel) and Pam Johnson all of Alma; two sisters, Terri Miles of Alma and Carlyn Hodges of Callahan; 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren several nieces and nephews and special friend, Delano Deen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 2:00 PM at New Hope Church with Pastor Pet Hayes, Pastor T. F. Yawn and Bishop R. B. Gaskins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the church Saturday from 1:00 PM until funeral time.

Active pallbearers will be; Garett, Will and Adam Newberry, Brant Whitley, Josh & Clayton Dunnigan, Brandon Newberry and Bailee Boatright. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
