Obituary

William J. (Jeff) Cox, age 46 of Alma died Tuesday evening at the Bacon County Hospital after a long extended illness. He was a native of Homerville, Georgia but had lived in Alma the past 10 years. He was a son of the late David Cox and was also preceded in death by a brother, David Ray Cox and a nephew Dale Noran. Jeff was a carpenter and a member of New Vision Church of Alma.

Survivors include his mother, Erma Rea Strickland Cox of Homerville, his wife of 10 years, Angie Dixon Cox of Alma, a son David Hunter Cox of Homerville, a step-son, Justin Spivey of Pearson, a daughter, Mattie McKinley Cox of Alma, two sisters, Blenda Doran of Argyle, Carleen Wilson of Homerville, a grandson, James Cox of Blackshear and a sister-in-law Amy Gilliard of Alma.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 o'clock at Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church in Homerville with Rev. Keith Chauncey and Rev. Pet Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Crosby Funeral Home Thursday evening between 6 and 9 P M. The body will be carried to the church in Homerville Friday at 1:00 o'clock to lie in state.

Active pallbearers will be, Daryl Perritt, Scott Lee, Carl Lupo, Stevie Johnson, Kevin Lingenfelter, Jason Smith and Sonny Morris. Honorary will be, Roland Mitchell, Lewis Martinez, Robin Minshew, staff and residents of Twin Oaks Nursing Home.
