William Bert Law, age 91, of Alma passed away Wednesday, February 18th at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Dodge County but had lived in Bacon County most of his life. Bert was son of the late Rufus Carr Law and Fannie Holt Law and preceded in death by his wife, Rheunell Wheeler Law, two brothers, Hoyt and Rudolf Law and two sisters, Susie Burgamy and Johnnie Young. He retired from the US Air Force after serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam, he retired from the US Postal Service, was a member of the American Legion and a member of Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Taylor (Denny C.) of Alma, Pat Lott (Jon) of Nicholls and Judy Lane (Grover) of Alma, four grand children, Jaime King (David) of Alma, Kristen Bland (Daniel) of Tallahassee, Fl., Rhani Lott (Brad) of Decatur, Ga., Greige Lott (Nicole) of Fernandina Beach, Fl. and four great-grand children, Jim Kaiser, Elliott Lott, Avery and Brady Bland.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20th at 11:00 AM at Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Brown and Shelia McMillan officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 PM. The body will be carried to the church at 10:00 AM to lie in state.
Active pallbearers will be; Bruce, Mike and Rudy Law, Jimmy, Johnny, Derrin and Cam Wheeler, Frank Wheeler, Jr. and Wayne Young. All others in attendance will be honorary escorts.
