IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Tell
Martin
July 7, 1980 – March 1, 2025
William Tell Martin, age 44, of Bacon County, passed away in his home Saturday, March 01,2025, surrounded by so many that loved him.
During his sickness, his wife, parents, brothers and children were overcome with messages from those for whom William was a special force in their lives. He was endlessly generous and supportive – from encouraging those he knew to pursue their dreams to pulling friends, family and even strangers up from hard times, or being there to help when they needed him the most – William always did what was right and good, without complaint or wanting anything in return.
William was intelligent (he got that from his daddy), funny (like his little brother) and kind (a gift from his mama). He had a rare talent for recalling hundreds of commercial jingles at the drop of a hat and was more likely to be listening to Weird 'Al' Yankovich than anything playing on the radio.
Ever the adventurer, at 16, William learned to fly solo in an airplane his daddy built – it was one of his favorite memories and would lead to a lifetime passion for RC Airplanes. He also loved deep sea diving, spear fishing and drag car races. William loved to travel – in his short time here, he was never afraid to live.
William was an exceptional father to three children – Wyatt Martin (17), Aiden Martin (14) and Natalie Martin (15). He taught them perseverance, courage and ingenuity. They are kind because of him. They are funny because of him. They are good because of him – and they will carry that through all their days.
He was also an incredible husband to his wife of 15 years, Donielle Martin (Green). They made each other laugh every day. She will never stop being grateful for the rare gift that she was given in William – a deep and everlasting love carried by friendship and respect.
Those most special to William were his parents, James Terrell Martin and Judy Kay Martin (Boatright) of Alma, Ga; there wasn't a day that went by that he didn't call his mama just to chat, and one of his favorite things to do when he had time off was to sit and visit with his Daddy, discussing all things planes, cars and trips – his little brother, Joseph Martin, whom he shared a sense of humor, interests and inside jokes that no one else understood (we ride at dawn!) – his nephews, Mason Martin (13) and Raiden Martin (10), who he liked to give big hugs to every time he saw them – his mother in law, Sherry Joyce (Mike), who personally helped his family care for him until the very end; a cousin, Chris Martin Jr, and many friends including Keith Kolmetz, Michael Crawford and Frank Wyatt.
William was a Corrosion Engineer and CWI contractor for the Army Corps of Engineers. Hespecialized in protective coatings for high security nuclear projects and served as a consultant on protective specifications for military construction.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jhue Boatright and Lorease Boatright; and his paternal great grandparents, "Daddy" Jim and "Mama" Jo Martin – all of Bacon County, Ga.
A private service was held. Pallbearers were Joseph Martin (brother), Wyatt Martin (son), Aiden Martin (son), Mason Martin (nephew), Chris Mobley (brother-in-law), Chris Martin Jr (cousin and friend) – honorary pallbearers were dear friends, Keith Kolmetz, Michael Crawford and Frank Wyatt.
