William Wade Thomas, age 71, of Alma passed away suddenly at the Bacon County Hospital on Tuesday, December 24, 2019. He was born in Bacon County on September 25, 1948 to Lamon Thomas and Colletta "Freda" Meeks Thomas; besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Thomas.

Mr. Thomas retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years; he served during the Vietnam Era, the Gulf War and Desert Storm.

Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Melissa Guthrie Thomas of Alma, children John Steven Thomas (Tamara) of Alma, Christopher Scott Thomas (Sally) of Sheridan, WY, David Benjamin Thomas (Malinda ) of Alma and Amanda Caroline Thomas of Fort Worth, TX. brothers Ron L. Thomas (Jeannette) and John L. Thomas (Mary) of Alma, 8 grandchildren and a special friend and fellow soldier Col. Scott Brennan.

Funeral services with full military honors will be held Saturday, December 28 ^th at 2:00 PM at Campground Church with Rev. T. F. Yawn and Rev. John Thomas officiating and eulogies delivered by Col. Edward Scott Brennan and Ben Thomas. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church Saturday from 1:00 PM until funeral time.

The Military will serve as active pallbearers and all others in attendance will serve as honorary escorts.
