Wilma Thornton, age 91, of Alma passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021 at her residence after a short illness. Born in Bacon County on June 30, 1929 to Elisha Staton Taylor and Clevon Tanner Taylor. She was a lifelong member of Wesley Chapel "Wolf Pit" Congregational Methodist.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands, James Otis Lewis, Sr. and Henry Thornton; daughter, Mary Lee Lewis, granddaughter, Wendy Wilbanks and two brothers, Clifton Taylor and Jack Taylor. Survivors include four children, James O. Lewis, Jr. (Sandra), Carolyn Kirkland (Bobby), Linda Wynn Sasser (John) and Elaine Miller all of Alma; brother, Benny Carrol Taylor (Becky) of Elko; sister, Norene McElroy of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren, Tammy Reyes (Romeo), Wayne Kirkland (Alisa), Marie Miles (Michael), Mandy Boatright (Benji), Rocky Lewis (Kendal), Sunshine Hawkins, Shonda Lewis (Joey), Otis Lewis (Brittany) and Kenneth Walker; 20 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; special aunt, Dot Taylor and special niece, JoAnn Grayson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. John Sasser and Rev. T. F. Yawn officiating and eulogy given by Romeo Reyes. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 10:00 AM until funeral time. Interment will follow in Wolf Pit Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be; Chase Kirkland, Jacob Reyes, Will Miles, Otis Lewis, Kenneth and Rocky Lewis. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
