Windell Taylor, age 74, of Alma died Monday afternoon October 12th, 2015 at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Alma after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Bacon County and the son of the late E.D. and Ida Pearl Pope Taylor. He was preceded in death by his wife Donna Joe Taylor brother Curtis Taylor, sisters Bobbi Jean Courson and Edith Stewart, half brothers Elton and Doris Taylor, and half sisters Irene Peacock and Hazel Nall. Windell was a supervisor for mobile home plants and a Volunteer Fireman for the Bacon County Fire Department and was a member and deacon of Big Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include son Richie Taylor of Alma, daughter Angie Branch (Randy) of Baxley, brother Hobert Taylor of Alma, sister Sybil Gibson, grandchildren Kandis Hayes, Shane Branch, and Brandon Branch and great grandchildren Lexie Lane and Taylor Branch.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 o'clock at Big Creek Baptist Church with Rev. David Miller and Rev. Daniel Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be carried to the church at 2:00 P.M. Thursday to lie in state. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening between 6 and 9 P.M.
Active pallbearers will be members of the Bacon County Fire Department. Honorary will be Billy and Wanda Boatright, Houston and Wilda Jarrad, Sherry Tillman, Gail Miller, Gene Davis, Tiffany Lee, Gene and Kim Vickers, Betty Jarrad, Jerome and Judy Taylor, Terry and Sheryl Hiers, Lisa Courson, Shelia Whitley, M.E. Smith, and Twin Oaks Staff.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Bacon County Bennett Still Volunteer Fire Department.
