December 21, 1944 – September 20, 2025
Winston Dwight Miles, age 80, passed away at his home on September 20, 2025, after a short illness. He was born in Bacon County on December 21, 1944, to the late James Archie Miles and Ethel Crews Miles. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Edsel Miles, sister-in-law, Carol Miles, and nephew Joseph Edsel Miles.
He served in the Army Reserve and was a faithful member of Wesley Chapel Church. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after a long career. He loved his faith, his family and farming. And don't forget his Diet Cokes, Honey Buns and Stephanie Smith's Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and French Fries.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sara Miles; sons, Jimmy Miles (Leah) and Jody Miles (Charity); six grandchildren, Jeofry Wages, Gray Goodson (Emmi), Jessie Goodson, Justin Miles, Jenna Miles Reeves (Carter), and Bryan Wilson (Kasey); one great-grandchild, Jace Arch; special son, James "Scrap" Parrish. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home at 11 A.M. with Rev. Jeff Williams, Rev. Jimmy Miles, and Rev. R.B. Gaskins officiating. Interment will follow at Wesley Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 P.M.
Active pallbearers include Jeofry Wages, Gray Goodson, Justin Miles, Bryan Wilson, Carter Reeves, and Blake Wheeler.
Honorary pallbearers include the Bacon County High School Class of 1963,Wesley Chapel Church, and all others in attendance.
