Zellie Mae Carter Thomas of Longwood, Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at her home at the age of 104. She was born on October 11, 1921, in Coffee, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Ottis Carter and Viola Deen Carter.
Up until the end, she was a faithful Christian and maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, love of family and friends, and expressed gratitude for her long life, full of wonderful and varied experiences. Zellie's life can be told by her love of God. In her 104 years she experienced an abundance of each.
Zellie was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Thomas; son, Roy Ottis Thomas (Anna) and an infant son; grandson, Stephen Roy Thomas and four brothers, Leo, Virgil, Felton and Lamar Carter; three sisters, Ocie and Mary Alice Carter, and Vertie Lee Crumpton.
She is survived by five children, Wilma Jean Jordan (Larry) of Alma, Georgia, Martha Sue Batten (Ron) of Osteen, Florida, Freddy Ray Thomas of Sanford, Florida, Mildred Thomas of Sanford, Florida and Judy Ann Thomas of Longwood, Florida; one brother, Edwin Carter of Gotha, Florida. She has eight grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, Nicholas Anthony, Joseph Michael, Anna Marie Farsaci, Palmer Claire Jordan and Scotti Paige Eason.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at National Cremation & Burial Society, 7565 Red Bug Lake Road, Oviedo, Florida on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at one o'clock with Pastor George Sledd and Pastor Andy Wilson officiating. Visitation will begin at twelve thirty. Interment will be at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery in Alma, Bacon County, Georgia on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 2:00 o'clock by Crosby Funeral Home with Pastor Edmund Thrift officiating.
Active Pallbearers will be Freddy Ray Thomas, Freddy Ray Thomas Jr., Travis Roy Thomas, Caleb Houston, Stephen Larry Jordan, Stephen Grant Jordan.
Junior Pallbearers will be Nicholas Anthony and Joseph Michael Farsaci.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Andy Houston and Steven Pacetelli.
National Cremation & Burial Society in Oviedo, Florida is in charge of the arrangements.
